IMG_0806.JPGThe Cape Winelands Top Schools Championships took place in Worcester on the 30th of July 2016.

Ikaya Primary’s U/13 Girls took part against older girls as well, and still managed to end the day on 28,5 out of a possible 30 points. A stunning performance!

Congratulations also to all the Stellenbosch Schools who took part and ended tops in all their respective age groups.

“Selection for 2016 SAJCC & the Grassy Park Chess Academy Open

It has come to our attention that a number of our players still need games to reach the 20 rated games required to qualify for selection for the Western Province teams that will be participating at the 2016 SAJCC.

The last opportunity to qualify will be at the Grassy Park Chess Academy Open that takes place from the 6th to the 9th of August. Please see below for full details.

We will select our teams as soon as the GPCA has been rated. We will use the Chessa Ratings as at 1 August, but the GPCA will still count for Activity, National GPX and Average Performance Rating criteria.

Very Important: It is especially important for our U8 players to play in the GPCA – the U8 section will be on Saturday the 6th of August only – as this will be our official WP U8 trials and the results together with the WP GPX will be used to determine our teams.

Kind Regards

CWP Youth Commission”
