The Easter Weekend saw the 40th Anniversary Steinitz Chess Festival taking place at the Proteaville Recreation Centre. The Stellenbosch players that took part did us proud – Corne Briedenhann came 4th and Nathan Amsterdam 6th in the Prestige Section. Congratulations to all the Stellenbosh Schools Players who took part in this year’s Closed. Alexander van der Merwe earned his SA Colors in the Under 12 Open Division with the Silver. Other Top 10 Stellenbosch players were Cronan Willis Under 8 Open and Karla and Ilse Brugman Under 14 Girls. Well done!
