IM Henry Steel and WIM Khadidja Latreche from the Stellenbosch Chess Club joined NA Ricardo Minnaar (on a rare weekend off) to talk about Chess, do some training and inspire Chess pupils in the Little Karoo.

Stellenbosch Chess Club had a record 6 teams competing in the League this year. Furthermore, the Club fielded 3 woman in the A-Section and 8 women/girl players in the C and D-Section.

We were very sad to hear that due to a lack of response from school chess players, the Bridge House School Rated Tournament will not proceed this year.
The Organizers are already planning how to engage more players next time in order to make this a regular on the chess calendar.

These Bruckner de Villiers players took part in the Stellenbosh Primary School Tournament and took home a hoard of medals.
They are: Joshua Jacobs (U12 Gold), Lurieka Lee (U8 Bronze), Houston Wareley (U12 Bronze), Ambro Lee Robertson (U14 Silver) and Jaid Engelbrecht (U14 Silver).
